Towards Production

This week my group and I continued discussing our topic and how we are going to make it. Most of us agreed that we will end up doing an animated video with a voice over and avatars. The ones who showed up have also agreed that we will all try to improve our editing skills so that all the work won’t be thrown on one person.

I showed my group a little practice animation that I did for our group project, and they said that it looks like a good idea. I told my group that I will try mainly focus on the animation part and the avatar making part too.

During our meeting we have elaborate further on our topics and also tried to focus on the important details that each of us is going to discuss.

Even though one of our team members wasn’t in, we still had to continue with our project. We have also discovered that each of our subtopics related to each other and are thinking of combining them. When we started to discuss how and where we are going to record our audio for the video, Nel had mentioned that her son has a whole set up for recording things like music. So, we might end up recording the audio at her house.

During the five hours that I put in this week for the project, I have written a script for what I am going to say. I even added an introduction to our topic just in case I would be the one to speak first in the video.

I have also practiced more on the animation sequences that we might include in the video. I thought about making our characters standing in the corner while we are talking so that the viewer would know who the speaker currently is. I also worked on the little piece of animation that will be placed between us talking. It will look like how you choose a character in a game but instead it will be our avatars and it will select the next person who is going to talk. For example, if I were to talk first then the little animation will end up with my avatar being selected.

Personally, I think that it’s a great idea and it will keep the watcher interested while watching the video that we are making.

During my research onto how to improve my animation skills, I have found a new software that I can also use to draw and to animate called Krita. I did try to use it but I since I just got it, I still have to get used to all the settings. Once I get more comfortable with it, I might end up using it instead of Animation Desk which I have used longer but it does leave a watermark.

So far, I believe that our teamwork is pretty amazing but, there is still one problem and that is one of our group members still hasn’t contacted us. Either way, when they will show up, then they will have to cooperate with what we came up so far because most of the decisions have been already made.
